The Mini Alarm Plus is designed as a stand-alone device to monitor for motion detection in your home, office, vacation home, or anywhere that a phone line exists. When an alert is triggered, the MiniAlarm sounds an audible alarm AND calls one phone number with a prerecorded message notifying the recipient of an alarm condition. If no further motion is detected after 30 seconds, it resets itself, but the callouts continue until someone cancels. The minialarm can be set to call every 15 minutes, or every two hours until someone calls in to cancel. This is not a system which is monitored by a commercial security service, and therefore there are no monthly charges associated with it. Installation and programming are easy.
The Mini alarm Plus works with any existing telephone line (excepting PBX systems). Though it is not warranted to work with cable phone lines, we have not yet found any instances where it would not work on a touch-tone phone line which has a dial tone. Of course, though, if your power fails and your phone service is interrupted, the machine will not be able to call out.
With the use of a line splitter, this unit can be installed along with your existing phone and/or your answering machine. When used along with an answering machine, the unit can be set to pick up after either 5 or 10 rings. To call in and avoid answering machine pickup, you trick the answering machine by calling in once and then hanging up before the answering machine picks up. Then you call in again and the Mini alarm will remember the rings from the previous call and then pick up once both calls together equals 5 or 10 rings (depending upon how you set it).
